Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are the core truths that ground us and guide us. Traditionally called a “Statement of Faith,” they help us follow Jesus together with clarity, purpose and hope.

We believe there is one divine being who has existed eternally. He exists and reveals Himself to man in three distinct, equally divine persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. While we cannot fully comprehend his divine nature, it is possible for people to know him. At the beginning of time, God created the entire universe and all its creatures. He continues to exercise His supreme power to sustain his creation. Throughout history He has expressed His desire to be our God and have a personal, eternal relationship with us. We believe that God loves us and wants what is best for us.

(Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Genesis 1:1; 26, 27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

We believe God the Father loved the world enough to send the Son, Jesus Christ, as the Savior of the world. Anyone who knows the Father also knows the Son. Through a personal relationship with Christ, we come to know God as our Father.

(John 3:16; Galatians 3:26; 2 Corinthians 1:3; Ephesians 4:6-7)

We believe that Jesus is the eternal divine son of God. He chose voluntarily to be made in human likeness and was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. Although He lived a sinless life, he allowed Himself to be executed by crucifixion. His death paid the penalty for the offenses of mankind against God. However, as prophesied, he rose from the dead three days after His execution. After appearing to witnesses on a number of occasions for forty days, He ascended into heaven where He now serves as the mediator between God and man. We believe, that at the end of time, he will again visibly return, fully God and fully man to Earth to complete his eternal plan.

(Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:6-30; John 10:30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)

The third person of God is the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in every Christ-follower. His indwelling presence gives spiritual life to believers and distinguishes them as children of God. The Holy Spirit guides Christ-followers in understanding and applying God’s principles and values. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, Christ-followers are empowered to live Christ-like lives. The Holy Spirit also equips Christ-followers with talents and abilities for the purpose of building up God’s kingdom.

(Titus 3:6; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7–13; 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians; Ephesians 5:1)

God divinely inspired human authors to write the sixty-six books of the Bible. He communicated through these writers the values, principles, and ideals that please Him and are in our best interests. We believe the Bible is entirely accurate, complete, and reliable. We look to the Bible for the revelation of the character of God and the final authority on all matters of faith and conduct.

(2 Timothy 3:16, 17; Joshua 1:8, 9; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

We believe that male and female—the only genders—are part of God’s creation, equal in dignity, value, and worth. All people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3–6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; 3:10–12; Isaiah 59:1–2)

We believe in the local church as part of the universal Body of Christ. It is to be a witness in its local community and extend to the whole world. The local church provides an avenue for the proper use of spiritual gifts and the observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

(Matthew 28:19–20; 1 Corinthians 12–14; 1 Corinthians 11:27–29; Ephesians 4:11–16)

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his or her life by faith.

(Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–9; John 1:12 & 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to spend eternity in Hell; to be eternally united with Him is to have eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

(John 3:16; 1 John 2:25 & 5:11–13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15)

The Word of God mandates two ordinances for the church:

1. Believer’s Baptism: A public declaration of personal faith in Jesus and a willingness to follow Him and obey His commands. Baptism symbolizes the individual’s identification with Jesus in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. The Lord’s Supper: The Lord’s Supper is a sacred meal Jesus gave to His followers to remember His sacrificial death and anticipate His return.

We believe that God has commanded that no sexual activity take place outside of a Scriptural marriage.

(Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5–13; Genesis 26:8–9; Leviticus 18:1–30; Romans 1:26–29; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:1–8; Hebrews 13:4)

We further believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one man and one woman.

(Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22–23)

We believe men and women are equally created in God’s image and are called to serve His Church using their unique gifts.

(Genesis 1:27; Galatians 3:28)

Leadership roles are guided by Scripture, with character and gender qualifications for pastors/elders outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. Both men and women contribute significantly to the Church’s mission.

(Romans 12:4–8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–31)

We believe that God gives different gifts to His people—as noted in Romans 12:6–7—and that sometimes those gifts are in teaching or leadership, even for those who aren’t pastors. All teachings are guided by the senior pastor and elders to ensure alignment with Scripture and sound doctrine. We believe God calls both men and women to serve and minister within the church, under the authority of the lead pastor and elders.
(1 Timothy 3:8–13; Romans 16:1–2)

We celebrate examples of faithful female leadership, such as Priscilla (Acts 18:26) and Deborah (Judges 4:4–5), and affirm that the Church thrives when all believers serve in unity and humility.
